Captain Tom grew up living aboard a sailboat sailing the Caribbean from the age of seven. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard for 20 years retiring and earned his 100-Ton Captain’s License while stationed in San Francisco, Ca.
In 2005 he boarded his trusty 35ft sailboat, headed out from under the Golden Gate Bridge, hung a left heading west covering more than 28,000 nautical miles, 30 countries and 5 continents dropping the anchor in St. John in 2009 in which he now calls home.
In his free time he is St John’s on island coordinator for Team River Runner/Combat Wounded Veterans. Team River Runner is a non-profit that has nationwide chapters throughout the U.S. and annually brings a group of disabled veterans to St John for a week of relaxation and sea kayaking through St John’s tranquil waters.
